maisonN

Utopiana Geneva is a transdisciplinary artistic platform, a flexible experiment woven in reality as it exists, in circumstances as they are, which creates possibilities for encounters and singular events. A web of sensory experiences in flux, within which we host artists in residence from the local region and abroad. For the artist in residence, it is a privileged time for developing a project and offering a glimpse of it to visitors; for others, it’s an occasion to access contemporary art practices from elsewhere. In addition to encounters and events, publications and artistic productions crisscross other spheres of social, political, and philosophical experience. One of the ambitions of this platform is to form a space in which different visions of the world might brew and mingle with one another.

The residencies

Our motto is not to define models or standardize ways to support the development of an artistic approach in residence. Instead, we observe the role of art and the artist both in society and art. It is for this purpose that we are trying to develop the project of homes as a rare opportunity for a daring experiment, research, reflection.

We welcome artists of different ages, at different times of course, and from different disciplines of art that illuminate the space and time of our century.

The residence is designed to provide the conditions for artistic work open and unconstrained. It may be a new specific work, reflection on artistic expression or research for an upcoming project.

The production of projects

Utopiana is a nonprofit organization that works toward enlarging the possibilities and borderlines of artistic production. The ensemble of the production activities is structured by the energy of the encounters and exchanges, through the sharing of work and creations, of time and space, of goods and the garden, of ideas and emotions, of memories and imaginaries. With this gesture, the association wishes to give visibility to the emergence of cultural, artistic, and social forms that shed light on the space and time of our epoch.
